About US News Desk
Last updated: February 24, 2026
US News Desk is an independent, reader-first editorial magazine covering the United States for a global audience. We publish original long-form analysis of US policy, business, technology and culture — grounded in publicly available reporting, primary documents, and public data, and written for readers who want context and interpretation rather than yet another 200-word news summary.
Our mission
To be the most trusted independent English-language source of US editorial analysis for the South-Asian diaspora and every global reader who needs to understand what is happening in America and why it matters. We believe good journalism should explain, not just report — and we specifically write for readers who are not sitting in New York, San Francisco, or Washington, D.C.
Who runs US News Desk
US News Desk was founded in 2026 and is edited from Hyderabad, Telangana, India, by Sai Muralidhar Maheedhara, the site's Founding Editor. Sai personally edits and fact-checks every editorial before publication. You can read Sai's full profile on the author page or write to us directly (details on the contact page).
How we work
Every editorial on US News Desk follows the same four-step production process:
- Topic selection — we track live US Google Trends, our own editorial calendar, and reader interest, and pick angles that are relevant to a global reader rather than only to US-based readers.
- Primary research — we pull together public-source coverage from major US publishers, primary filings, government press releases and official statistics.
- Editorial drafting — a first draft is written under a strict style guide (AP / Reuters-style, no clickbait, no unsupported claims, no hot takes). We use AI as a drafting assistant, but every claim is checked against the primary sources listed at the bottom of the piece — see our AI Content Disclosure for the full policy.
- Human editorial review — the piece is edited, fact-checked, and stamped by the US News Desk editorial team before it goes live. Any factual error we later discover is corrected in place with a visible update note.
Our editorial standards
Read our full Editorial Policy. In short: we cite our sources, we do not accept payment for coverage, we correct our own mistakes publicly, and we are transparent about our production process.
How we make money
US News Desk is free to read. We run programmatic display advertising (Google AdSense) so we can keep the magazine open to everyone. Read our Advertising Policy for the full details on ad placement, sponsored content (we do not run any), and how advertising affects our editorial (it does not).
