Editorial Policy
Last updated: February 24, 2026
US News Desk publishes original editorial commentary on United States news, policy, business, technology and culture. Everything you read on this site is written and edited by real people who care about getting the facts right. This page describes exactly how we produce our editorials, and how we correct them when we get something wrong.
Editorial independence
US News Desk is an independent publication. We are not owned or funded by any US publisher, political party, PR agency, or government body. Editorial decisions — what to cover, what angle to take, whom to name — are made solely by the editorial team and are never influenced by advertisers. See our Advertising Policy for the firewall between editorial and advertising.
Sourcing standards
Every factual claim in a US News Desk editorial must be traceable to one of:
- A primary source (government filing, corporate release, court document, official statistic).
- Reporting from an established US publisher (attributed by name in prose or listed under "Cited sources" at the foot of the editorial).
- Publicly available, verifiable data (e.g., publicly-listed company earnings, BLS or Census figures).
We do not use anonymous single-source claims, un-sourced statistics, or unverified social-media posts as the sole basis for any factual claim.
Use of AI in our drafting workflow
We use large-language-model assistance as part of our drafting workflow. A first draft may be produced with AI assistance, but every claim is checked against the source list before publication, and every editorial receives human editorial review before it goes live. We are transparent about this — see our AI Content Disclosure for the full policy.
Fact-checking
Named entities, numeric claims, dates, and quotes are verified against primary sources before publication. When a claim cannot be verified with a source we consider reliable, we either remove it or attribute it explicitly.
Corrections & updates
We correct our own mistakes publicly. If you spot a factual error, please write to us at saimuralidharmaheedhara@gmail.com. Every valid correction is applied in place with a visible Correction or Update note at the top of the editorial and an explanation of what changed.
Comments moderation
Comments on individual editorials are moderated for spam, hate speech, incitement, personal attacks, and off-topic solicitations. We do not censor legitimate disagreement — sharp criticism of our editorial position is welcome. See the Terms of Service for the full comment policy.
Diversity of perspective
We aim to give context that a US-based reader might take for granted but a global reader may need. Every editorial includes a "For global readers" section that draws a specific comparison with other countries — usually India, given our diaspora audience — so the piece is useful outside the US as well.
Editorial team
US News Desk is edited from Hyderabad, India by Sai Muralidhar Maheedhara, Founding Editor. Sai personally reviews every editorial before publication. Read the author profile or write to the editor directly at the address above.
